Frequently Asked Questions

How do you find the seniors you serve on 2ndSaturday?

Because we strive to do service events with a community development mindset, all those we serve come in conjunction with trusted partner organizations also committed to long-term impact in Dallas. The folks we serve are pillars of their communities...basically, they rock.

What is the time-frame for volunteering?

Volunteers arrive at our kickoff location starting at 8:30am for check-in, to get name tags and site assignments before heading to their site for several hours. We usually wrap up at each site before 1pm.

Can groups (like my company, church small group, family or others) serve together? Can we be at the same site?

As much as possible, we try to accommodate groups that wish to serve together. Depending on the size of your group, you will want to reach out to us in advance. Sites range in volunteer size from 10-30 people generally.

Is 2ndSaturday family-friendly? Can we bring our kids?

We love to see families serve together. However, please understand that we are doing construction-oriented work in communities with unique needs. Any child under 18 should be supervised by a parent/guardian.

How do we sign up?

You can go to 2SRegister.org to sign up for our next event. We also send out the registration link to our email list and on our Facebook page, so make sure to connect with both of those so you don’t miss it!

Types of projects will we be doing?

Projects range anywhere from landscaping to building ramps to painting to repairing siding to fixing roofs to neighborhood clean ups and more. If you have specific construction experience or are a professional contractor, let us know and we will make sure to utilize your skill set.

Need to bring anything? What to come prepared with?

Come dressed to get dirty and wear closed-toed shoes. If you've got tools you want to bring, bring them! It’s also never a bad idea to bring water in case you get thirsty. Try to take care of restroom needs prior to coming out.

How are you so awesome?

We just are. Really though, it's because of an incredible army of volunteer leaders, generous givers, corporate partners, churches and friends from West and South Dallas.
